Ce documentaire perspicace met en vedette certaines des plus grandes et des plus belles actrices du grand écran. Il montre comment l’industrie cinématographique a changé sa représentation du sexe et la représentation du sexe par les actrices de l’ère du cinéma muet à nos jours. Des scènes classiques sont montrées, du film muet True Heart Susie , avec Lillian Gish, à Love Me Tonight (1932), mêlant sexe et sophistication, avec Jeanette MacDonald (avant Nelson Eddy), et à Elizabeth Taylor dans A Place in the Sun (1951), et bien plus encore.
